Acclaimed Portuguese singer and Eurovision winner Salvador Sobral presents his first album featuring exclusively Brazilian compositions. Entitled “A Flor do Recomeço” (The Flower of New Beginnings), the album was recorded in São Paulo and produced by Grammy Award-winning Brazilian producers Marcus Preto and Tó Brandileone, with its release scheduled for the second half of the year.
The album features a remarkable selection of previously unreleased songs written especially for Sobral by renowned artists including Adriana Calcanhotto, Arnaldo Antunes, Chico César, Céu, Marcelo Camelo, Mallu Magalhães, Marcos Valle and Tim Bernardes. Its title comes from a poem by writer Eveline Sin, set to music by Chico César.
For Sobral, this project represents a deeply personal journey back to his musical roots.
Accompanied by a band of outstanding Brazilian musicians, Sobral emphasises that the goal was authenticity rather than imitation.
After an intensive period of rehearsals and recording in Brazil, Sobral describes the final result as a sound that is «coherent as a whole and does justice to each unique composition».
